You know how it can be so easy to start berating yourself?
Well, now is NOT that time. I thought about it and decided that I’d rather share some of my recent accomplishments rather than the drudgery of what I have yet to do. After all, we all have things to do and none of us needs to feel worse about them.
So, because I don’t do it enough, I’m going to pat myself on the back.
I’m Making Progress on My Book
Yes, I am in fact writing that book I mentioned a while ago. I’ve drafted a couple of chapters, started on some of the gritty content, and recruited help from fellow writers around the country.
Early on, I knew that I could not do justice to all the types of writing people are paid to do; I knew I would need help from other experts. So, I took advantage of the fact that I am a member of an international networking group (BNI) and reached out to other writers who are also members.
Side Note: The rule of halves is alive and well. I found roughly 90 writers but only about 45 had their email addresses listed. Of those 45, I heard back from a little over 20 – 14 positively.
I’ve been decent with following up with those who have responded, and even taken extra steps to connect with a couple that I want to respond – including picking up the phone and calling! (That’s a big deal for me.)
Overall, things on the book front are going well.
A New Workshop
Helping people understand a concept is something that I’ve been doing for as long as I can remember. When I first went to work in software, training was a significant portion of my job. So, what’s the big deal about teaching something? Don’t know, but this is way out of my comfort zone. Maybe because before now, I felt more like a source of information people already knew they wanted. In this case, I have to convince people that this is information they will want.
I have the topic (Super Easy Newsletters), the venue is booked, I’ve started marketing, and I’ve even got a couple of registrations. I can do this.
A Blog!
Yes, I have not given my own blogging much attention of late. That’s one of those things I’m NOT berating myself about. <wink>
And now, I have one of those done too.
OK, back patted, now it’s time to get back to work!
